Markus Antonietti

Markus Antonietti has studied Chemistry in Mainz and did his doctorate with Hans Sillescu. His habilitation on nanogels in 1990 fueled his enthusiasm for complex materials. After a professorship at the University of Marburg, he was appointed director for the department of Colloid Chemistry at the MPI of Colloids and Interfaces in 1993. Antonietti’s contributions to the chemical community comprise many aspects, but first of all he is devoted to creativity in research. He enjoys cooking and loud music.

Janez Plavec

Njegovi raziskovalni interesi vključujejo študij struktur in dinamike bioloških makro-molekularnih sistemov, konformacijskih ravnotežij nukleinskih kislin, strukturne predorganizacije modificiranih oligonukleotidov v povezavi s potencialno terapevtsko uporabnostjo, proučevanje vpliva podedovanih mutacij na prostorsko strukturo prionskih proteinov v povezavi z nevrodegenerativnimi boleznimi, ipd.  Njegova znanstvena bibliografija obsega preko 200 izvirnih del. Njegov h-indeks je 31. V Sloveniji je organiziral 14 mednarodnih znanstvenih dogodkov z eminentno udeležbo tujih strokovnjakov. Bil je mentor 15 doktorjem znanosti. Leta 2017 je prejel Zoisovo nagrado za vrhunske dosežke na področju raziskav zgradbe nukleinskih kislin in proteinov z uporabo jedrske magnetne resonance, leta 2018 pa nagrado Indian Society of Chemists and Biologists for Excellence.

Paolo Fornasiero

Paolo Fornasiero obtained his degree in Chemistry in 1992 and his PhD in 1997 at the University of Trieste (Italy). After a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Reading (UK), he was appointed as an assistant professor in 1998, associate professor of inorganic chemistry in 2006, and full professor in 2017 at the University of Trieste. In 2015, he became an associate editor of the journal ACS Catalysis. His research focuses on the application of inorganic chemistry to nanosciences for the preparation of new materials useful in the fields of energy and environmental protection. He received the 2005 Nasini Gold Medal, the 2013 Chiusoli Gold Medal, the 2017 Heinz Heinemann Award and the 2017 Kramer Award.
